Hi there, first time poster long time observer.
I've got a 05 hippo (td4), had it for about 3 years now and love it as a car and as a continuous project to fix
Problem is, in the past year or so its become unreliable on start up and a nightmare to depend on.
I've had the injectors overhauled: coils, hp & lp pump, and starter replaced. It's at 128k miles and unfortunately has been sat on my drive the past few weeks without a way forward.
It struggles to turn over cold, juddering the engine and more often than not cuts out. After a fight- 3 more turns of the ignition and some light persuasion of the accelerator- it revs over in a huge smoke cloud.
Once running, it runs smooth as butter. No issues or codes. It rolls over easy enough after its warmed up but it doesnt take long for it start struggling again.
I'm replacing the lp pump once again as I can hear it struggling (clacking). I've gone for a bosche this time.
I noticed this time, however, that there was a loose connection as shown in the photo below. After a little research I found this image on another thread showing what seems to be an electronic part? It seems the previous owner has removed it.
Does anyone know what the part is? Could that be a cause of all my problems?
Any help would be appreciated.
