Hi All. Can anyone tell me if the crankshaft pulley on the M47 motor is the same one in both Landrover and BMW applications?
Mine needs replacing, I have a Dayco kit with a new mounting bolt on the way.
However the locking tool I have bought doesn't fit the existing pulley on my car. The external diameter on the central tube of the tool is 60mm and the internal diameter of the pulley is slightly smaller, 57/58mm, also the central tube is too long to allow the castellated teeth on the tool/pulley to lock together.
The supplier of the tool states it is suitable for all M47 motors but this doesn't seem to be the case.
I haven't tried the tool on the new pulley, it hasn't arrived yet, just wondering if anyone else has come across this before? Cheers.

Which tool did you purchase because some do not fit, maybe because the tooling as not been set up right, i doubt you have purchased the original pulley as below.

You may have purchased the one on the right which some fit and other do not.

Have you purchased a Corteco pulley or some after market pulley, after market pulleys don't last long

It's a Dayco pulley kit that I've ordered, with a new mounting bolt. Research on here before I ordered it suggests the kit comes with a Corteco pulley, but it hasn't arrived yet.
I bought the only tool I could find here in Spain, the supplier says it is suitable for all applications of the M47 engine. As it doesn't fit the existing pulley, I'm wondering if a previous owner has fitted an incorrect pulley, but I doubt that, I have had the car 14 years without changing the pulley.
