OK, so while I'm in the process of figuring out where the water is coming from in the cubby compartment in the boot, I came across a wire taped to the inside cubby in the floor under the carpet liner. No idea what it would be for so I left it.

I've just stumbled across a Freelander 1 Harmon Kardon (if I've got the right) speaker the comes built in the lid of the cubby hole. The cable on the end of this looks like it would fit in the socket in the boot. Am I right?

Would my TD4 have come with this or is for earlier models? Are they any good?

Thoughts...

The HSE model has a different HU incorporating sat nav, 6cd changer under the drivers seat, amp under the passenger seat and harman kardon speakers, and a sub in the cubby. I would imagine the connector in the cubby is useless without the HSE factory amp set up but others may confirm.

OK so I already have a Sony aftermarket Double Din head unit. If I were to purchase a cubby lid w/built in speaker, you think this would work?

I also have no amp in my car so atm I have a double din running thev4 door speakers & that's it. I'd like a bit of boom in the back.... what would anyone suggest? HK speaker or something Aftermarket?

I have looked into this also and wish to fit the HK stuff in her TD4 as we have the HK kit fitted in the D3 and it does sound good tbh.

So if the sub wiring is there in the boot what else is required to make it work? Is the normal wiring loom to the HU ok or does it require the passenger under seat amp to work?

Cheers

You'd need an amplifier for the sub, but the HK unit although neat is pretty rubbish, and the driver fails too.

My G4 has a subwoofer fitted in the boot. No amp anywhere so it doesn't work!! Also, can't see amp and subwoof wiring under passenger seat although it might be under the carpet. Will probably remove the subwoof box, replace the lid with a standard one to give me space for tools etc.

I have no amp under any seat & considering I still currently getting water in my boot the cable that appears in the cubby would surely be void? I guess this means I would have to start from scratch in order to put a sub in the boot?
