Adjusted tappets on my bros 200 as there was one out of adjustment . No worrys but after 3 mins of the engine running the tapping was back :confused: .
Ok go through them again same tappet needed adjusting - ok this is strange ran her up all quiet :D .

Day later the tappings back !!!! .. same tappet  - had a look and this time huge gap (concerned now but have an idear what could be wrong ) .. - leave it till the week end and take the head off .

So ladys and gents the results are in , and my thoughts where correct .
Can you spot the difference ?

Case hardening had come off the roller and turned it into a 50p piece  .
Lucky it had only been driven 60 odd miles since I first looked at it , luckily the cam wasnt effected by it :) case hardening still intact and shiny .
Oil feed was also fine ( loads coming out when turned over by hand ) .

So if you ever get a tappet that you have to adjust a lot bear this in mind ... .

Lucky I had spares and shes up and running good as new again :D.

Hiya, my old 200 has tapped since I got it, comes from halfway down block on the front 1st or 2nd tappit / follower...
I even bought a stethascope to try & pinpoint noise source.
but seems to quieten down after running/warming up a bit.
should I be alarmed at this?
the engine / car / dont drop any oil at all (yes it has plenty)
so at this moment in time, I`ve been reluctent to take rocker cover off and check inside.
your views please. "easye1"

I would just check your valve clearance more often than normal and just keep and ear on the engine noise and leave it as it is.

check the valve caps are not worn through as this happened to one of mine and it rattled like a bugger when under full load.
