Does anyone know if its possible to fit 195 80 16 tyres onto Lwb rims and what effect this will have on the gearing of a Swb s3 petrol. Im on my 7th series 3 and have tried alsorts of tyres and wheel combo's from tall 235 85 16's ( great in snow ) to some 205 70 15 inchers. Im thinking that a tall and thin tyre should be great in snow and give me decent mpg. I dont use the landy for anything more than getting to work in the snow, i live in west yorkshire and have managed to get out in all weathers with any tyre.

Why on earth would you put smaller than standard tyres on a Series?

Get some 7.50x16's

For sure you want to keep the sidewall height, maximum ground clearance in the snow.
If it's only used in the winter, winter tyres are the best option, they'll keep you going long after any mud/all terrain has given up.

Some nutters even put on 900's :p

I ended up fitting 5x 205 80 16 Insa Turbo Dakars. Gearing is back to normal and steering much lighter and speedo is back to accurate. Very pleased
