hi there guys i just would like to know if any harm will be done by taking off for an extended length of time the radiator oilc cooler assembley, ive got lots of rot problems around the very front body mount by the bumper and need to take rad etc out for a while to make repairs.

as this will mean draining the oil cooler i wasnt sure it would be happy to be stood in this state.

i know v8s shouldnt be left with the sump dry as the oil pump needs priming again, i just wondered if any problems occured from draining the oil cooler.

its going to need a new rad oil cooler as half the fins are missing from the current one.

does any where make a repair panel for this front mounting point its going to be a pain fabricating one as i cant make a hole big enough for the rubber and its all chock rotten, i have repair panels for the inner wing and battery panel.

thanks in advance:)

Just tie the endsof the pipes up so they don't drop below the oil level in the engine. That way you'll only lose whatever's in the cooler.

I'd agree 100% with what both Paul D & Shorty said.

My oil cooler was off for about two months whilst I sorted the rot out. No harm done and at 186'000 miles it will only use 1/2 litre max between oil & filter changes, (every 5000 miles).
