A friend wants to come to Morocco next year with us. We intend to do as much off roading as we can in the process.

My question are these, and in particular to people who have been there before...

What is fuel quality like in Morocco? Do you see many modern vehicles about? Good enough for a diesel Disco 3?

Spares - is there much point in taking anything really? I would have no idea where to start if the thing broke down! I would imagine even changing a broken spring to be a task compared to my simple landie!

Can the Disco 3 takes miles and miles of pounding off-road? Has anyone had any experience or heard good/bad things about them?

The tanks are pretty big so range pretty decent - can probably get more range than my series land rover including 3 jerry cans so thats something which I don't have to worry about. And if he is going to be trailing behind us at a max of 55MPH, fuel economy should be quite decent.

Any other considerations I need to take into account with the Disco 3?

Thanks

Alex

My main concern would be the low profile tyres and their suseptability to punctures, especially in the rocky terrain of the Atlas Region and Hamada. See if he can fit/borrow some 16" rims with AT tyres. Getting low profiles replaces in Africa will be a nightmare!

Good point Griff. I am assuming they are not the same fitment as other Land Rover 16"? Will different profiles confuse any sensors if there are any?

cant help you with either of those points sorry mate! just wanted to point it out as i have read in many places that newer disco/RR have tyre trouble when using low profile tyres in rocky regions. often many punctures in less than a mile! be wise to take a plug kit with you anyhow. qucik, simple and easy to use, coupled with a good compressor your sorted.
