I have searched the search option yes :p Has anyone had any problems when leaving the door open for a long time since it is quite heavy?

We are off to a camping trip and the car is part of the tent. Maybe i should put a transmission jack under the door to relieve the weight?

wouldn't have thought it would be a problem, its the opening and closing which wears the hinges not being still in one position. Where it mounts is pretty heavy duty, so wouldn't worry too much.

If you really are worried, as brack said, take the spare wheel off, but I'd not bother. I used to work out of the back of mine, it was always being opened and closed or left open, not had any issues at all.

Get a wooden clothes prop cut it down to size and sit the bottom of the door in the v on the prop.Job done!!!

Dont think propping up the tailgate door is a good idea ..if people got in the extra weight would lower the vehicle and the prop could damage the hinges

Good Point, i'll take the wheel off and leave it as it is. Why didn't they make it swing away ####tards :/
