Yes you can open the tailgate if the engine is ticking over, get a scan on what might be happing, have you tried opening the tail gate with car on tick over?
Hi mate ,I’ve tried everything to open the tailgate at idle but it will only open when the engine is switched off.

Does the vehicle have drive away locking activated? I don't believe the tailgate will open if it's active.

That is really frustrating on my F2. Its a pain in the bum. And may explain why the tailgate will not open at times for no particular reason.
Its NZ new. Not some South African import with onboard self defence systems to stop carjacking at the traffic lights.
