Hi guys

I've just topped up the oil in the front swivel pin housings...not sure this has ever been done as each one took over half a litre. Slight issue is I topped up through the bottom level plug & not the top filling plug! Will this be an issue or can I sleep well tonight!

Thanks

.... actually I think I'm about to answer my own question in that I shouldn't have put oil in the housing & it should have been grease? ...& There isn't a top filling plug just the one square bolt plug for grease right?

What 'oil' did you use ?

here's the plugs, fill - top, level - middle and drain ...
Wheel needs to be turned out so that the holes clear the ball...

The grease comes in a sachet like this.

Or in bottles like this ...

Part number for the sachet is STC3435.
The JLR stuff is probably betterer than the Britpart but i'm not convinced there is enough in it to justify the increase in cost.

Get the britpart sachets. They have a plastic spout make filling 10x easier. Those flexi plastic ones just make a mess!

Top tip - drop em in some warm water for 10mins, help the grease flow.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll grease them up after all the oils leaked out!
