Hello,

I have an early IIa which has the old style swivel cup bearings on one side - it seams as though the other side had been converted on the top only??

I bought both the conversion kit and a replacement bearing kit.

Having drilled out the pins in the steering arms I tried to hammer and then press out the centre shaft - no joy.

Am I missing something?

When i'm finished should I have the same solid bush and shaft top and bottom of the cup??

thanks

The series 3 has a bearing on the bottom and a fibre (Railko) bush on the top of the ball. The steering arm and pin fits on the bottom of the swivel and the pin with the shims fits on the top. Does this help?

Make sure you fit a steering damper if you are getting rid of the railko bush , as this had a function as a friction damper as well. Also dont do bearing caps up to get railko type resistance at steering arm
