Yes I had exactly the same, strange thing was the carpet around the box was bone dry.I opened my tool box recess at the weekend only to find it nearly full of water. I cannot find any way this could happen, has any one else any ideas or have had similar experience.

There are almost ZERO new issues with Freelanders and all the past ones (including fixes) are to be found by searching ! Aghhh.................
It is a rather good fish tank though. It's a fish tank.
Sorted this on a friends FL.
Get some flash banding from B&Q or somewhere, then remove the carpets from the rear storage area and from in the tool box. Drill a couple of holes, about 6 mm down in each corner.
The water is getting in around the joint between the rear area floor and the tool box; it is only spot welded. Clean the area around the joint, making sure that it's dry and free from grease, dust and stuff.
Cover the joint completely with the flash banding and ensure that it's well stuck down.
Dry the carpets and replace them. Problem should be sorted.
