good day, i have purchased a coil sprung 88" land rover first registered in 1979 which has a coil sprung chassis and 1973 range rovers axles and v8.....the chassis was purchased from "Designa Chassis"the chassis was purchased in 1997(i have original invoice )i was told that if this rebuild was done before 2000 there would be no need for iva/sva .... i have been reading many conflicting stories regarding the legal implications of the above, your time and help would be much appreciated to put my mind at rest! thank you robert

Hi,

Sounds like an interesting vehicle.

Not sure on the answer to your question, as it does appear to be a minefield ref the points system , Q plates, IVA etc.

Only thing I would ask is " have you talked to your local DVSA testing station".

Cheers.

hi, thanks for your reply... no i haven't spoken with them as i am not sure anything that is discussed over the phone will help as i could get one answer today and another answer if i phoned next week! cheers rob

OK, just a thought as they are the ones who would be testing it if required, or at least could point you to the relevant website with the info on it as they are the standards and testing agency.

Cheers

thanks, that is what i thought aswell but i did speak with richard at "glencoyne" he was very helpful and said it may need a test to be 100% ! ...it seem the truck may have been an ex military.... being declared as manufactured in 1969(notes on v5) and being first registered in 1979...cheers rob
