After dragging a horse box around for 300 odd miles i've managed to pass my B+E car and trailer test, it was a fair test of my poor old perkins engined series 3 ability to survive!

yesterday while i was sitting in front of the test center i had to carry out emergency repairs to my exhaust manifold as it blew as gasket, i was in serious danger of getting my test cancelled and probably killing myself on the way home as all the exhaust fumes were filling the cab..... the day before i had to wrap a couple of welds on the exhaust as well...
then during my test the gearbox started making some new ginding noises in 4th, a new rattle developed in the bulkhead and the slow running screw slowly unscrewed itself..... ah the joys!!

still the examiner was impressed that i was keeping a "classic" vehicle on the road....just! and the instructors had lots of fun taking the ****!! :D

It's ter allow yer to tow a proper trailer instead of the pretend ones that Halfrauds sell

Try driving a 44 ton artic on 6 axles with a 45' reefer on, great fun, esp in London...

Glad i only do 26 tonners now...

Oh, dint need one of em, got a good old fashioned HGV 1, anyway, I thought you needed to drive a motability car to tow one of them halfrauds trailers

if you passed your driving test after 1997 you have to pass a further test to pull a trailer over 750kg in weight i.e. any useful trailer!

the test involves most of the stuff you have to do for your articulated lorry test, so if you've already done that i think you automatically get the B+E

cheers!!

Congratulations. Been towing trailers for years, but I'm certainly glad I've never been tested on it!

so after all that fun running my poor old lump into the ground i decided to give it a blast with the power washer before sorting out the various noisy bits. unfortuanatly i found that most of the rear crossmember is made from rust and air! found a few more holes as well..... magic!

its mot'd till june but there is no way i'd want to pull a trailer with it now!!
