Hi all,
Looking for the correct part number for a Discovery 1 manual tilt and slide sunroof seal.
First, a bit of background - I've had the odd drip coming through the front sunroof winder for ages.
Whilst I've read all the endless threads on how to fix the sunroof, I felt that the glass seal on my front sunroof was really flat and could see gaps in it, so bought one a couple of years ago which seemed like for like, but was incredibly tight to fit, however after putting it in warm water for a bit, managed to fit it. This solved the problem for a while, but the seal popped off when I opened the sunroof (it got stuck to the glass and pulled it off). So I put it in warm water again and whilst stretching it, ripped the seam where it was joined into a loop. This made fitting way easier but I now had a gap of about an inch as it was no longer stretched round the entire frame.
I've finally got the headliner out and properly re-sealed the sunroofs to the body. Surprisingly, the drain tubes were still attached fine and the cups weren't leaking (but I ran some epoxy round anyway).
I decided to get another sunroof seal to replace the one I broke - but I noticed that they all seemed to be for a model with electric sunroofs (such as this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rov...458160&hash=item4d1e8d4332:g:Gc8AAOSwyttZ08cr )
I have a 1998 Discovery 1 with two original manual tilt and slide sunroofs.
I contacted JGS 4x4 who checked the Land Rover parts catalogue against my VIN and recommended part STC773 for my car. This has since arrived and is WAY too thick and a completely different design to the original seal. I have contacted them and they ensure me that this is the ONLY sunroof seal listed for manual sunroofs - however I suspect this is for a tilt only sunroof.
So can anyone shed light on the correct part?
