Hey guys, long time observer of the forums, finally decided to join :)

getting to the point, so the restoration on my 1974 range rover classic 2 door is almost complete and the time has now come to outfit and prepare for expeditions and off roading, while still keeping it use able as a daily driver (a lot to ask i know!!)

so far (except the rear axle) the entire drive line has been replaced (including gearbox and transfer case) with one from a 94 disco (got a good deal on the lot) and a 300tdi (mechanical fuel pump) engine installed. no other modifications have been made yet!!

I did however get heavy duty coil springs from ironman 4x4 (they're supposed to give 1.5 inch lift i think), here comes the first question, shocks, will stock shocks work well lifted a bit and will they last expedition use? if not what can i get as budget replacements? (cant invest too much in them right now)

Tires, i decided to go with 235/85/r16's on the standard rims, as they're the tallest without going too wide. options are to get bf goodrich, good year duratrac, or something like dunlop or yokohama. need something that performs well all round and arent too expensive.

body lift, i have herd so many different opinions on this, how come certain ppl are against it? does it have any draw backs? even something like a 1 inch lift?

i read somewhere that the steering mechanism from a defender can be made to fit in a disco/rrc?? i'd like to do this as its higher up and less prone to damage (have had bad experiences with the rrc's steering and rocks).

The remaining list of things to do is as follows (please let me know if you guys think im missing something out)

snorkel + wading kit
heavy duty bumpers
winch
fuse block for accessories
dual batteries
power inverter (12v dc to 220v ac)
cb radio + antenna
air compressor
high lift jack
rock sliders
steering/skid guard
driving lamps
roof rack with mounts for spare wheel, hi lift jack, axe/shovel)

The rock sliders, bumpers and roof rack i'll be fabricating myself (have access to a metal workshop) the later 2 will be decided later, for now let me know what u guys think of the design i've chosen for the rock sliders (they are of higher urgency to me)

now the items of less urgency (or my wish list if u will)
water tank for roof rack with solar heating system
awing mounted on roof rack
drawer system for boot
fridge/freezer (like the one from arb)
