I picked up a 2000 W diesel but it's gone and let me down, I had just wanted a cheap tug for occasional towing.

The body is good but the engine and turbo have apparently snuffed it and the propshaft to the rear diff isn't fitted so it's two wheel drive.

I don't know if it's better to sell for spares/repair of fix it and I'd like advice please.

What is a W reg worth as a fixer upper and what would it cost for a engine, turbo and rear prop shaft?

So what should I do fix or take a big hit and sell as a non-runner?

Advice gratefully received.

Thanks for your help aamcle

i'd find out what the missing prop is hiding before you launch into spending more money.search the freelander section as it may be hiding symptoms of expensive problems.

missing prop probably means knackered VCU & possibly IRD damage. Couple this with a damaged engine & it would not be exactly economical. Are you sure the engine & turbo are done. If you could repair them cheaply enough it could be worth running it for a few months as two wheel drive only & getting rid of it & upgrading later.
