Hello,

Last week i purchased my first Land Rover, a 1978T Series 3 88 SWB

However the gearstick seems to have popped out of the selector - as i was changing from reverse to neutral, the gear stick got stuck and I could not get out of reverse!

Ive taken the gearbox housing off, inside the car, and I can see the bottom of the gearstick wiggling around not making any contact with anything

I guess its a case of lifting the gearstick up and popping it back into place?

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Chris

Usualy the nuts/bolts fall off the gear stick gimbels (swivel bit) and drop in to the sliders (gear selectors) just clear any bits and bolt it back on the gimbels.

thanks for reply

im new to this so not sure what those terms mean - is it likely the bottom of the gear stick, which is wiggling around freely, has become unbolted?

would a photo help?

yer g/stick is held in by two big bolts and two litle fookers. its possible the little fookers have stripped the threads outta the holes. its also a possiblity that the gear lever has snapped. best yer post a piccy then we can see
