Hello guys, new to this so am looking for as much advice as I can get. I just picked up a 1997 Disco 1 300 tdi with a full s/h. She seems to be a dream but in the mornings when the engine is cold it feels like its struggling to fire up compared to how it is when its warm, its just had new glow plugs in jan. Someone has mentioned an oil pre-heater?? could this be a fix? If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. Cheers for the help.

air filter clean ? fuel filter clean ? timing spot on ? battery good ? heater plugs working , properly ? if so and it still doesnt like starting , when you find the problem , let know cos mine does that !!!

Even with a new battery mine turned over very slowly, and in winter needed a jump-start as well. It seems they take a lot of batt power to get going. But don't we all as we get older?

thanks for the suggestions, I am just wondering if its anything worth worrying about or if its always going to be like that.

Should fire up on the button every time, might take a bit of tracking down but well worth it

was having same problem with the same model of landy in the last week or so i changed battery, new lift pump, bypassed the sedimenter, a service, new filters etc, and the penny trick for good measure. it now starts first time i just wait a few seconds after the glow plug light goes out and she starts, I'm no expert fellas here advised me on what to do. bypassing sedimenter should be first job or else just clean and replace, runs much better.
