I'm considering replacing the carburettor in a Series 3 with a Stromberg 175CD using HNJ Engineerings adaptor kit. There seem to be a considerable number of different versions of the 175 on eBay and I wonder which one is the most suitable?

I think they all the same body ie 1 3/4 inch choke size. I guess HNJ will be able to advise on jets/needles etc.

I remember taking the factory fitted strombergs off my v8 90 and fitting a pair of SU which perfromed just as well but gave much better economy.

SU's are a better bet, both for performance & economy, though I seem to recall that the Strom. is more capable of handling extreme angles ie in serious off-roading.

Mine has an SU, never had any issues with it, in fact i love it!!
