Hi All,

I have a strange noise coming from the front of my 2000 5 door. Noises are hard to describe but it almost sounds like low wind/whistly note with slight 'scrape' overtones.

The noise stays constant in pitch and doesn't deviate with speed, cornering, gears, neutral, clutch in or out, but it does get very quiet above 45-50mph. The noise also stops just as I pull up. I does get louder around 30mph and also has an oscillating quality about it when at it's loudest.

Any ideas? I've tried to be as specific as possible...

Bit of crap in the disc brakes, stone maybe, or loose rust around the disc

Could well be - have a gravel drive...

Funniest noise I ever had on my Opel Manta..when cornering hard I'd hear this sort of thump thump thump from the front wheels area.

Garage pointed out that someone had lowered the front suspension enough fore the mudflaps to hit the road under any body roll..
