Our land rover 90 300tdi has been stolen from Stocksbridge in Sheffield in the early hours,27/11/11.
It's white with roof rack and full set of brand new tyres. It also had a disc lock which I thought was a pretty good security device.
We are gutted to have lost it. Anyone seen anything or with any info please let us know.
Once again Sheffield is the target for land rovers, mine is the third, that I know of, to be nicked in this area in just a few days.

Sorry to hear that mate. Hope you get lucky. Sounds like sheffield landys need trackers and an action group to nail this gang

sorry to hear about your landy goin missing,were was it parked? on a drive? road? blocked in? etc,any more details so we know what to look out for?

It was parked on street facing down hill upto the back of our other motor, wheels on full lock into kerb with disc lock on. It's a 1998 300tdi ex works.

I would love to get my hands on these bastards and would quite happily drag them over rough ground behind a land rover. Oh I forgot, some bastards nicked it....

Sounds like it went on the back of a truck.:eek::eek::eek:

Could a hiab get to it?

By my count, in Sheffield and district (extending as far as Bakewell) there have been at least 8 nicked in October - November.
I understand CID have set up something, as it seems quite likely there's a chopshop in the vicinity. Gossip was Rotherham area, though it's not substantiated.
In many cases, they've taken them off drives with immobiliser and night security light, with Diskloks and so on. They are professional and skilled - not joyrider casuals.
Sorry to hear of yet another pride and joy going missing

Makes sense if it is rotherham, we are minutes from the m1 up hear so you can be in rotherham in no time.
My cousin has also had his crew cab pickup nicked from deepcar in october,closer than us to the m1:mad:

sorry to hear that mate, total arseholes :(
If they want anything, they'll get it eventually, whenever we've had anything stolen the police have advised that CCTV is your best bet for a security update

I saw mine go, and still couldn't tell you anything about the hoodies that nicked it!

I'm just trying to establish a single point of contact with SY Police on this - unless someone is further along with this?

It is such a shame that we cannot appear to own something in this country anymore without the worry that some lowlife is going to try and steal it...I heard on the news a day or so ago of a young family who had had their wrapped Xmas presents nicked...the lowest of the low in my opinion. I am not sure if this is allowed and please, I have no conection with this company apart from having one of their devices fitted to my Landrover, but this is evidence that sometimes, just sometimes, a happy result occurs after a theft. Of course no consolation to those of you in the Sheffield area who have been victims but I thought worth posting for interest...it was an e-mail I recieved today from this particular company.

Good fortune to all those hoping to have their vehicles recovered:

South Yorkshire police help set new uk speed record for stolen vehicle recovery!!

Press release

For release 29/11/11 12.00 GMT

Skytag today announce that their 12 minute stolen vehicle recovery record which has stood since September 2009 has been beaten! By Skytag themselves!!

At 23.19 on 28th November 2011 the Skytag team received a call from a South Yorkshire Land Rover owner to report his vehicle had been stolen. Just 11 minutes later at 23.30 Skytag were able to report back to the client that South Yorkshire police had been directed straight to the vehicle which had made its way into nearby countryside. Guy Topsom, Managing director at Skytag said ‘The vehicle owner could hardly believe it was all over so quickly, it is quite astonishing when you think about it. We were able to start tracking the vehicle as soon as the client called us, our systems are always on 24/7 365 days a year, so there’s no delay, the second we received the call we had the vehicle in sight on our screens, all that remains then is to direct the police in to secure the vehicle.

Once again we’re incredibly thankful to South Yorkshire Police for their speed of response; it is only with their efforts that this record has been achieved. Having been directed to the vehicle, officers called in the South Yorkshire police helicopter and dog handlers who were able to track and arrest two suspects who had left the scene on foot into the surrounding countryside. At the moment we understand the suspects are still in Police custody and forensic work is being carried out on the vehicle. We understand that the method of theft was forced entry.

Naturally the Skytag customer is ecstatic at the result. The Skytag-gps.co.uk tracker was purchased for him as a gift by his father, who having heard about the incredibly high level of Land Rover thefts in the Sheffield / Rotherham area thought it would make an ideal gift for his son to help him protect his £10,000 vehicle, especially as he had a vehicle stolen in the past.

Key Points:

* Recovered in 11 mins from initial call to the police.

* Immediate Police response

* Dogs and Helicopter used

* 2 Suspects in custody

* Investigation ongoing

* New recovery record

Nice to note 2 suspects in custardy...
wonder if we're going to hear about any other vehicles? - surely this wasn't the first one they'd ever tried to nick...
If anyone manages to keep tabs on this case, eventually the perps' addresses are going to be read out in court, which might help build up an idea of where the villains are based
