Just trying to gauge people's opinions on where to keep my 200 defender looking similar to the year of manufacture or put on some newer parts and respray to make it look more modern.

I think the old Series look much better kept original but is it a different thing with defenders and all the different changes they have had over the years???

Trying to upload pics of mine, but can't seem to do it using my iPad, sorry.

Depends what you want from the vehicle. Sometimes all these bolt on modifications ruin the vehicle and your wallet. Like huge wheels or lift kits that serve no purpose but to composite for the drivers lack of manhood.

If you plan to sell the vehicle in the future keep it factory with some enhancements. Better seats, engine tweaks or conversions etc.
If you want to keep the vehicle for a long time then do what you want with it. As long as it puts a smile on your face

Personal preference, personally I use mine for 'collecting' wood for my wood burner so I try and keep it as invisible as I can by keeping it fairly standard.

Just mulling it over at the mo, got plenty of strip down work, and bits to be getting on with.

I don't want it to become a Chelsea tractor as I use it to collect wood too and bring the dog back when it's stinking after shooting.

Keep it stock, maybe more aggresive tyres if you plan on lots of off road use. Axle lockers are the best mod on a Def if you can afford them.

Imo they look best left in classic colours.m

Subtle mods you dont notice work well

Kermit green or tango orange very rarely look good imo, looking like you ramraided paddocks isnt a good look either.

How ever useful mods like led sidelights, brake lights and indicators - every day of the week. So much safer when you can be seen:)

2 inch lift on that as well with a gwyn lewis artiiculation kit.- sees me right through deep snow and water we get up here

I try to keep mine as stock as poss. having said that it is in for a respray at the moment and I am going for a more modern color. The only mods I have done is fitted a front Salisbury axle and changed the wheels for tubeless steel ones. I don't keep mine as a show piece. I tend to use it for what it was intended.

There's a lot to be said for keeping it standard, as you would with any old car. I think 200-engined defenders and the pre-defender 90/110 are past the point of being just an old car and starting to enter classic territory. There's a certain charm now to a 80s or 90s Landy that's been kept standard. It will never be a modern car, so to me there's little point trying to make it look like one. Nothing wrong with repainting it if you don't like the colour, but I'd go for a period-correct colour.

Subtle modifications that fit generally with the age of the car are fine too IMO. Just don't go too mad with the bolt-on bling.

Thats good advice from some one who calls themselves "109 inches" lol

Marmadukes advice is pretty sound. Defenders have always been targe

I like to think it's good advice from someone who owns a 109

If mine had been better than it was when I bought it I'd have probably kept it reasonable standard, but with new axles needed (Or at minimum, lots of work on each) and a new motor it got played with. Colour and 'style' don't do much for me ... or the Landy .. :)

Targe? I really don't know. I wrote defenders have always been a target for thefts so best to make them blend in. For some reason it didn't like me saying that?
