My Land rover is actually quiet enough that you could hear a radio in it...so I'd like to know how others have fitted them.

My V6 has the stereo slung under teh dash with speakers in specially fabricated mounts that go by the back lights.

My Sherpa has a shelf in the roof which could hold both stereo and speakers.

The one I am fitting it to has a hard top so I will go with the same approach for speakers as the V6 has (already made them)

But were to fit the stereo?

I cant make a shelf up as teh dog guard is in the way so I wondered about cutting into the seat box and putting the stero in there, wither drivers side with some weather protection or passenger side.

Any reason why I shouldn't?

Any better places to put them?

All ideas welcome....photos would be great!

Can't you get a proper panel for it, I am sure you can one from many of the landie part outlets, and they come with extra bits for more switches and all that.

I think that once you cut holes in you vehicle you spoil it and when you use the radio do you want to be fumbling about in a seat box?, best right in front where it's meant to be if you can. and it looks more profesional, and I'm sure you will find switches and extra bits to fill the blanks. Might be better to modify the radio panel than your vehicle if it's not a proper fit, see if you can get a hold of one on spec and try it for size.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

That does look good stuff, bits its out of my price range unfortunately, bet that roof lining makes the landy a more pleasant environment though :)

Aww, I dunno. At least in a Series the water drips from random parts of the roof in the morning. When I had me Defender the frunt had headlining & the water would collect and drip exactly down the back of my neck relentlessly!
