Ive recently bought a 4.6 vogue autobiography with the harman kardman stereo in but it doesnt work all i get when i turn the stereo on is a loud pop then thats it. Ive been told it has got a seperate amp in the car and that is prob the problem. Firstly does nybody know where the amp is located and wheres the best place to get a new/second hand one

There are 3 slightly different versions of the HK system in P38s. Earlier ones (up to mid-99) had a Clarion head unit, and individual amps in the doors, plus a sub with it's own amp mounted on the LH side of the boot (above the CD changer). Later models had 2 variations, both with Alpine HUs; One with the same amp setup as the previous system (although slightly different wiring at the HU), and the DSP system, which had a single big amp in the rear, that lives behind the soundproofing behind the sub. These amps are a common failure, and cost in the £hundreds to replace... You cannot simply swap out the HU or amps for aftermarket kit either... Although I have come up with workarounds for all the systems that allow fitment of aftermarket HUs or amp.

I've posted LOTS of info about this very subject... Do a search!!!
