Was ther a steeri g wheel co trol stalk for the freelander 1? Putting a new radio in and thought this would be a nice new feature?

Blooming heck that tablet of yours takes the proverbial!

I believe there was a steering wheel with controls on it but I don't know for sure.

Fitted one myself last year, had to cut out a section of the plastic on the steering wheel & make a small harness but it was fairly easy...just be careful with the airbag if you want to remove/unplug it....another option is to buy a 2nd hand steering wheel complete with the control that way less fiddling about..;)

Tho my wife did say 'why you just cant reach down a bit & turn the volume knob i dont know!!'.....

Women eh :D

I have got a spare genuine LR steering wheel volume/track control switch - as another post said you cut a hole in the side of the cowl at the back and the bolt holes are already there. If you PM me with your address I will post it to you FOC as I was going to chuck it out anyway... I think it joins into the wiring loom for the horn switches.

OK got miself some controls for the steering wheel THANKS AGAIN TANNATON, ive not had the wheel of yet to try and fit (this will be for another day), once the switch is fitted and plugged in (presuming the harness is there), is that all i need to do?, there are 2 wires from stereo that i havnt connected yet called KEY 1, AND KEY 2 and its been suggested that these are for this?, Ive wired them to the switch to test but they did nothing, does anyone know whay im suppost to do here?

okies i now have an engrish manual, and they are for the wheel so any idea how it should be wired ?, does it need some sort of power that will be obtaind from the steerwheel harness once plugged in?

You will need a new harness to plug into an exiting one (if it is there. It will depend on the head unit you took out, and the one you are putting in.

Try incartec. They are the only people who could supply me with a lead as I had the oem Becker Sat Nav fitted with audio controls on the steering wheel. I fitted a Kenwood single DIN head unit with DAB+. I looked at double DIN with navigation built in, but decided against it as I could not see the screen as my hands on the steering wheel block the view, and for me, it is too low. It's even lower than the one I had in my Yeti, but that had a second screen between the speedo & tacho so easy to see.

It was origional LR cassette then i put a ripspeed single din, now ive got mi new double din and i used the old ripspeed iso lead that ive moddified, there is 1 spare wire on the LR power plug between the bat and grnd wire (orangeish and red) not sure what thats for not checked the speaker wires plug for spares yet.

If the steering wheel end of the harness is there i can easily run the wires to it (or not even as this one has plug and socket attached), but as it didnt seem to work by just connecting the wires switch to stereo is there any power in tbe origional harnesses for it- or does it just power from the stereo?

I had to have a magic box from incartech to get mine working again.
