Hi All
I have a 1994 disco and on buympy roads the steering shakes like mad, i have been told that you can adjust the hubs to sort this out? can anybody help me with some instructions please

Mike

There are a number of well documented reasons for steering shake. I think you are referring to swivel pre-load. I've never done this myself, so maybe someone else would be able to help?

Don't ignore a plethora of other possible reasons though. Worn dampers, steering damper and ball joints can be the cause.

Suggest you perform a search in 'other places'?

Hiya MIKEFM, just to 2nd what Widget said. Get underneath and check the ball joints for any play (just replaced one on mine). If they're all ok take the steering damper off and check that too.

to pre load the swivels take off track rod ends where they join at hubs so that you can move hubs without steering linkage atached use spring balance as used by fishermen to weigh catch atach it to point where ball joint was & pull from lock to lock i think you want about 12 pounds of resistanse but check that if it is to easy then remove a shim from under top plate of swivel where brake pipe is bolted onto top of swivel by 2 bolts if to stiff then add shim you can get them from any land rover place good luck.
