When driving along, particularly at low speed, or parking it becomes very difficult to steer the car to the left (right is fine). Its as if the power steering stops working...

any ideas??

are there any wining noises if so have you checked the steering fluid level
also are the tyres at the correct pressure ?

Thanks for the reply...

No, haven't heard any whining noises, but I will check the levels anyway.
Tyre pressures are all correct...

It's seems odd that it is only in one direction...

Could be yer power steering box. When turning right the fluid from inside the box pushes the piston forwards (towards the front of the car) and the drop arm moves right. Turning left the fluid has to go down the bypass pipe to push the piston back again. There is valving on the input shaft which allows this to happen. Check your fluid for silver or gold particles which is from the pump and could block the valving partially.

Could be expensive!

Bigbird.
