Just bought a steering guard off ebay. ended up costing £70 as it looked a heavy duty 1 with tow hooks and the hi lift points. its has a big 4 x 4 logo cut out the front.

Is this a specific make good or bad and does any one have the same 1??

std design for most steering guards. I have the same but without the 4x4 cut into it.

i got the same one with the '4x4' laser cut into it, dunno who makes it, does it's job ok though. Got a few dents in it now, could have been a bent drag link arm.. so i'm happy..!!

i'm not fitting a steering guard at the moment, i plan to fit HD steering arms as i have found from personal experience guard tend to have a plough effect if you try to reverse out of trouble

Damn right Gman, and in deep snow they act like a sledge and lift the front up rendering you nice and stuck wiv yer front axle hanging and no front grip.

well im abit happier some 1 else has one the same i didt want to have just been ripped off with a home made tin sheet jobby.

Iv head of people bending HD steering arms.

Get stuck and be winched out? or break stuff?

not heard of bending HD steering arms but they can cause extra stresses on the track rod ends if hit hard. same as steering guards will not protect the steering arms if lifted or articulated.

there are pros and cons for both but any protection has to be better than none
