Hi,

Recently bought a nice 2012, low miles, one owner TD4 HSE. It's my first LR.

Scraped off the surface rust on the subframes, treated with kurust and then Lanogaurd.

Did the timing belt, water pump and service and new MOT.

All is good so far but last night got the common "Steering Column Locked" prompt on the dashboard while I was driving.

Turned car off then back on again and the prompt has disappeared for now.

So now I'm a little bit concerned.

Spent the next few hours reading up on the issue on here and other sites.

Anyway I'll monitor for now and update if and when something changes so myself and others can learn from it.

Just to update - The prompt has not returned (yet) but I did see an "HDC fault system not available" prompt the night it happened and once again recently which leads me to suspect low voltage from the battery.

These are power hungry cars and need a good battery, otherwise they throw all sorts of hissy fits!
