Hi All,

I've just replaced the steering box on my 300Tdi, generally all seems to be ok, but the steering appears to be lighter LH down and slightly stiffer RH down. Being new to defender's I was not sure if this was a general oddity. The old box was stiff as it had very little bodily fluids left inside and the rest dumped itself out when the seals gave up.

Any advice gratefully received.

My defender seems to do the same and cant see any reason for it. I just put it down to an oddity as there are so many components in the linkage.

How's yer steerin' damper and/or bushes?
Mines was like that for a while. When ah changed all the bushes on the bus, ah thought it might be a good idea to stick a couple of them poly-whatsits in... wasn't a good idea!!! Luckily ah kept the original rubber ones that came wi' the standard damper, and it certainly feels a bit better now.
Just a thought;) :D

Here's a couple of pics of the bushes ah just changed....

Ah think ah should've used the 'cups' of the old shockers as they're bigger than the steerin' damper ones.
Oh well, ye live and learn!! ;) :D
