I have a disco 4 and the steering wheel is slightly out i have had it tracked but that has not sorted it.

I have an icarsoft v2 which has a stering wheel alingment functuion onit. Not sure if it will do the job before i stat messing about has any one used thisa function to get the steering wheel to center.
 
How long has it been like it and any other work done on the suspension/steering side of things.

Shirly the diagnostics is electrikery based, so I would not think it can fix a mechanically issue.

I dont know the D4 though;).

All the tracking lads need to do is wind one track rod end say a 1/4 turn out and wind the other side a 1/4 turn in, so tracking is still correct but the rack and the steering wheel will be in a slightly different position.
You may have to tell the car with diag kit you have adjusted things otherwise the angle sensor might throw a code.

Also is it just the offset steering wheel that’s the issue or are there other problems , ie, when u go round corners etc plse
 
No other issues had tracking done twice and still slightly out of line.

Just wondering if the adjustment can straighten out the steering wheel as not sure how mechanical or electrical it is.

It is all mechanical, the leccy bit is just so the car knows which way the wheel is pointing when things start to go pear shaped.

many thks , so indeed as mentioned garage will need to alter the track rod ends to bring that steering wheel dead straight

They may have to remove the steering wheel air bag to see where the line matches up between the upper steering rack column and steering wheel , might have been altered in the past and not put back properly , sometimes seen where the steering wheel is taken off it’s been moved a few splines but then the steering wheel angle sensor will have to be adjusted using diagnostics

Unusual to have the steering wheel out of line after a track. They usually clamp the steering wheel in the central position, and track to that. Sounds like the apprentice had a go on your car. Take it back, and get them to realign the steering with the steering wheel centralised..

never forget many moons ago going into kwikfit, after it was done I went back to my series landy and the steering wheel was well out

went back into the office and asked them to correct it, manager there apologised and duly got one of the senior techs to correct it

Indeed as u say needs to go back to them to correct the wheel , additionally don’t know if maybe in the past someone has just moved the wheel so it’s out from the markings on the column spline that’s under the airbag

Hopefully the OP will get it resolved
 
If you simply set your steering wheel to the centred position, check you steering wheel is now centred, then check any toe out/in with a string line attach a line at the rear of the car I use my tow ball, run the line around one of the real tyres to the front wheel so that it crosses the centre of both wheel pull it tight past the front of the tyre pull it tight, it should touch the rear wheel on the rubber front and rear as it goes past the front wheel, if it touched the front of the tyre before the rear the either your steering is turn in that direction of the wheel or its is toe out, check the other side, if it touches the rear of the tyre and you have to bend the string to touch the front of the wheel then the steering id not correct, if it touches the front off the wheel but not the back, its toe out

If on both sided it touches the back first its toes in, but the gaps should be the same , this will tell you if it’s your steering is out or just a of just need a small adjustment, I do this on my D2 all the time because when I took it to a Big national tyre company they said they could not do it as their top of the range all singin all dancing, lazer alignment tool, did not have my setting in the computer as it was to OLD

I have been using this method for 20 years, says the 20 year old:D
Checks measurements with all wheels in the air!

I reckon the levels/bits of wood could work well with wheels on the floor for checking the tracking.
 
if you listerned to the video he put the stands under the arm then lowers the car back down,
I use a string line with the wheel on the floor and avernier guage to measure any gaps between the string and the tyre, my front wheels are basicaly parallel, on my D2, so mine should Toe Out 0-2mm, and I set them at 1mm, so it works for me,
