I`m in the process of buying some 16" steel rims for my discovery 1, 200 tdi, but the come without tyres. The vehicle came with 205 R16 Alloys, but am just checking what max sizes i can put on the steel rims, can i put 235's on them or is there another factor i should look at?

You need the rim width("J" measurement) to work out how wide the tyre can be. I run 265's on an 8.5J (8.5 iinches wide, between rims)
