youre right a good 200tdi doesn't need to use glow plugs check the flow/return pipes on top of your tank under the boot floor these little ****s rust and get small pin holes which pull in air causing your symptoms if they are good grease them up so they wont cause hassle down the line it may also be worth checking the cut off solenoid on injector pump they stick especially if you have used veg oil

ok i will check them too over the weekend. do u check these pipes from under the car?
ye have used veg in past. dunno wot the solenoid looks like tho. where on the pump is it?

hello
to check the flow/return pipes lift up boot carpet and sound proofing and the inspection plate is in the centre near the back. The solenoid is at the back of the pump with a wire coming off it ( also makes a cheap imobilser if you remove wire car wont start) it is easy to remove and clean/replace if defective they are very cheap hope this helps.
my solenoid kept sticking open so car ran with keys out of ignition amusing but annoying removed and cleaned and now works fine yours could be doing opposite if you have no luck with these the lift pump could on its way out
