What engine? mate of mine said that TD5 burn out the starters, another mate of mine with a TD5 went through two in 6mths!
Check your earths, most faults are bad earths! not live.
You could check it by running a switch live down to the spade terminal after d.i
sconnecting the one already there.

it dont matter if the starter is new, they can still develop faults most usual is the solenoid after that it is the battery leads that bolt to it or the battery terminals that are dirty. dont laugh i have a JCB and had this problem, the dash lights came on but nothing when it came to starting it, after cleaning the battery terminals and connectors it started every time. also try the ignition relay and ignition. it could be an ignition fault ? youll need a tester to see if theres power to the solenoid wire (back of ignition lock) when you hold the key into the start position.

Take the ignition wire of the starter and then refit it again. See if it'll start then.

check the switch on the end of the ignition barrel too. They can sometimes come loose and turn with the key for the final bit.
