Hi,

I bought a Freelander TD4 (2001) about three months ago. I'm getting the same intermittent starting problems that 'Darrnw' seems to have had in his earlier threads. Did you get it fixed mate?? Just wondered if you did and if you found out what it was in the end?

My problem is : The car can start first time, four/five times a day, no problems for a week or so, but over the last week it has started doing it more regularly. On turning the key, it tries to start but just will not fire up. I finally get it going after about 7-10 attempts and it can be fine for days then. It's bizzarre!! Any ideas anyone??

Um. . . fuel filter first, if that fails then its glow plugs, and next is the silly rear pump gone weak on ya,best oh luck. . .:)

I did get it sorted! My problem was a split o ring on the valve stop on the injection pump! It is worth having a look at it. Basically what was happening was the fuel was returning to the tank before the pressure in the common rail had built up.

Thanks guys...Will give it ago....It's been fine today tho?!? Strange!! Called Land Rover and they couldn't suggest anything!! Fat lot of good they are!
