Hi, I have recently changed the front discs and pads on my 03 TD4, after doing this I have a starting problem! strange I know, When cranking it over the lights on the dash flicker like a disco and it will take maybe 10 seconds to actually start! When it does it bellows out some smoke then settles down, sometimes the engine warning light will come on and sometimes not! When on it don't seem to affect the driving but all seems quite bizarre, I have put a code reader on it and the only code coming back is P0500 which is 'vehicle speed sensor signal error' surely this cant be causing the starting issue can it? Just seems strange that after doing the brakes this problem started any ideas would be much appreciated.

Sounds like a voltage problem. Check battery condition and connections are tight and clean

Hmm I'll look at that as a few weeks ago the battery went flat, as I had left an interior light on for a few days while I was away!

Caught a wire somewhere maybe and caused a loose connection ?
