Hi, I hoped to get my landy finished by the end of the holidays, but I appear rather far off at present. I am itching to start the engine as so far during my rebuild havn't tried it. I am told that it works but before I start the electrics I would like to test it. Is there an easy way of starting the engine without connecting it up to all the cab electrics so I can give the ol' burd a test??

all you need do is connect the LT side of the coil and the solenoid to the battery then jump the two big terminals on yer solenoid.. assuming you've also got fuel going in and it is a petrol injun and not doosul.

Which engine is it?

You don't need to connect EVERYTHING to make it go using the wiring in the LR, all you really need is the engine bay electrics if its a petrol and then you can hotwire it.

Yeah, my engine is a 2 1/4 deisel. Sorry, What do you mean by: "connect the LT side of the coil"???. So apart from that... I take it that you just follow this then attach both terminals to the 2 connections on the starter (which one is positive??)

Thanks

yes i do have 2 terminals. So basically just attach both terminals to the battery, which one is negative?? How do u stop it when started in this manner??

can't say i've seen a starter with 2 terminals on it ,, not counting the terminal fer yer ign fed on a pre engaged starter, have you gat a piccy of it?
