Hello, Ive got a 2a 2.25petrol engine and want to start it but its not in the landy. how do i wire all the ignition coil etc so it will start? want to test it before i do all the work of putting it in. Any help is appreciated! thanks ::D
 
before you worry abart wiring anything you need to make sure you can hold it steady . otherwise the fooker might take a leap at you and remove body parts with the fan etc
 
Thanks for the speedy replies. I havent got a proper stand but its held pretty steady. I havent got a fan belt on at the moment so that should be ok. will it really move that much?? THanks
 
yu mite be able to get away to strapping it TIGHTLY to a pallet - but dont forget yu got no exhaust and fuel to consider as well as electrics.
 
think abart it lad..its the turnin motion that moves yer landy. and as every action has an equal and opposite re-action then too **** reet it will move.; havin sed that i did once start a 7.5litre v8 up while it wur on the ground just dint rev it much and it had a gearbox on it.
big heavy fooker it wur but i wouldn't try it wiff a small injun like a landy's yer just askin fer trouble fan belt or no fan belt
 
For all the ag', I'm not convinced you'll gain much by starting it anyways. Any engine'll run, might even sound ok until it's under load & you're not going to find out how it pulls.

Aren't you better at least having the top off & giving it the once over? If you aren't capable of that you aint going to get much from watching it bounce around atop a pallet.

aye a 5 ton rachet strap and a palet might work. and you dint need a egghost . yer petrol could be sat in a can a safe distance away, yer pump on the injun will pump it to yer carbatooter
 
ahh i suppose i'll have to be a little more patient! i'll bolt it inplace on the bare chassis then try it. Ignorance can be helpful! ive already tried getting it to start for half an hour or so, glad i didnt now! . but when i get it there how do i go about the distributor/coil/solenoid etc, someone was in a rush when the took it out so there was alot of wire ripping:(. Thanks for the help
 
i saw sumone once start an engine wiv no gearbox and the flywheel (with ringgear) on the deck. ****! did it move - and him. No - it werent me :D
