I am Having problems now and then starting

The put the key in, I hear the click, I turn the ignition to No1 position, the steering wheel adjusts its self and that's it....

When I turn the key to start Nothing, then after trying several times, locking unlocking all of a sudden it starts

Then its ok for a few weeks and then off we go again

I don't know if its the immobilizer or ignition switch

My question is is there a way to put a push button start switch , I want it so I put the key in, turn to No 1, then push the button

From the wiring diagram I don't think a switched live to the solenoid will work, as it would be bypassing the immobilizer, or would it work ?

Or do I just switch the two crank wires in the switch (red and yellow black )

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Assuming it's an L322, ignition switch failure is fairly common. You could try a wash out with switch cleaner, it worked on my Transit, otherwise replace the switch, when one part fails, other contacts may not be far behind.

Have a look at your engine earth cable by the passenger side engine mount they are know to corrode inside the covering and cause problems unless it has been changed it might be worth swapping it out before it give trouble.
