had problems with starter motor, removed and noticed the spring has broken ! Can any one help where I can source one or maybe someone has a spare. its a 2.25 petrol.

For a seriesIII 21/4 petrol starter the heavy spring outboard of the pinion has part number 7H5007. The light spring inboard of the pinion has part number 607932, but seems to come complete with 3 bushes. I don't know if earlier starter motors on series IIs use the same parts.

are the early models fitted with a pre engage starter i have a series3 2286 starter in bits but im not sure if it is the same type of starter, and i would not have a problem posting it if its the correct spring

Series petrols didn't have pre engaged starters
