Hi all, its been a while glad to see the forum is going as strong as ever.
Hoping someone can help, the disco won't turn over at all, it has been cranking slowly for some time now but this week finally gave up the ghost.
My immediate suspicion was starter motor, under closer inspection I found that the permanent live feed had completely corroded and was no longer attached so sorted that out but motor still won't start.
Thinking it might then be due to a flat battery I tried using a battery jump pack but still no joy.
Removing the starter and hooking up to the battery, the solenoid is kicking in and motor spinning:

But when bolting it back on it still won't crank, I can just hear the solenoid clicking.
I tried hot wiring the temporary live on the starter in situ by bridging with a screwdriver but no joy:

It is an auto so double checked that the box is in park, and even shifted the transfer box into neutral just incase.
I'm currently of the thinking that the starter must be fecked even if it still spins ok when not under load.
Sound plausible? Or is there anything else I should look at before buying a new one?
Thanks muchly..
