Right before I attack this I need to find out what I'm doing as I've not got a Haynes manual yet. Starter motor on vehicle is taking longer and longer to flick into life so I've got a replacement, going to do it Sunday but need to do it quick as wifey wants to go out for the day!?!?!

1. Is it easy enough?
2. Where is it roughly?
3. Do I need any special tools?
4. How long should it take a fairly confident DIY bodger to do?
5. Will I swear and wish I'd never started?

I know the easy option would be to get a manual, but I'm working like mad for the next two days! Does anyone know if theres a reliable download for Disco 2 maint Manuals?

Thanks in advance.

Have you found "rave" and "microcat" in the dusty corners of the internet?
(its also been recently reposted I believe but cannot seem to find it sorry)
I cannot answer 1 and 4 but 5 is definitely a yes :)
Though hopefully you'll see it through before darkness - though I would warn the wife you may not make it out.
3's answer is 'you always need another tool', and 2's is 'under the bonnet' :)

Thanks,
I've tried to explain to the wife that theres more important things in life than Ikea on a Sunday but she won't have it!
I've tried to download Rave before and it came down as a load of nonsence so I'll have a look for 'Microcat'.
Here comes the swearing!!!

Nope - its definitely rave you want - microcat is only any use for diagrams and part numbers. I'm pretty sure the last download listed was from green oval? It comes as a .iso file - you'll need to open it with winrar or some such - or burn the iso to a cd and read it off that.

Rave comes on a few .iso files - you need to choose the right one for your car.
I suspect that the file you downloaded before is fine - open it with winrar - which you'll have to find in another dusty corner.

Some days I quite like ikea - more than swearing - but less than finishing a job on my disco.

Have fun.

I had my starter off last night, took it apart and put a new plunger and contacts in, put it back together and back on the truck, all in less than half an hour !. All for £ 9.95.
Got to be one of the easy, ist jobs i,ve done on the car.
Feels good as well, knowing that Landrover would have charged £ 180 for a new starter and £ 120 to fit it !.

When it comes to the top bolt, you have to " be the spanner " !!!.

Del.
