Hi guys, just thought I'd post today's experience on the forum.
Needed to move the Disco (3.5 L -V8), but trying to start it, the starter motor was just clicking, continuously. Clicking and not starting the engine. Everything else worked fine, electrically.
The engine also had started fine just 5 days ago. So you would not think, but anyway my son suggested a flat-ish battery. I tried again with some jump leads (off a Jag, big battery), but still the clicking.
So now you would think starter-motor straight away. Especially knowing it is 20 years old.
But before messing around with it, had a cup'a and a browse through this forum for some old posts. There was some mention about battery (from one of the Seniors). And yes, I did remember something about low battery and a starter motor.
Took the bat to Halfords to have it checked. Knackered they said. Bought a new one, fitted it and presto !! the V8 started without any trouble !!
Keep in mind: A starter motor takes a lot of Amps, and if it gives trouble, think battery first !!
Good luck.
Mike
