does anyone know how to make the thing work i have fitted a 300tdi disco engine to a 1986 defender there are three small wires coming out of the back a brown a white and a brown and black i have 1 live feed from the ignition what to do do you know?
 
if you have a black plastic box/cover on rear of pump ,you need to break cover of to reveal solenoid and attach suitable live when ingnition on wire ,and forget about the others

are you on about the egr wires or the fuel stop solenoid wires?

The 3 wires on the top of he fuel pump are for the egr. The 3 wires coming out the plastic housing down the back and near the bottom of the pump are for the stop solenoid (or just a single spade connector if it comes from an earlier/manual vehicle). .

If it has 3 wires instead of 1, you need to do as Jamesmartin says and either undo the security screws or break the plastic cover off which will reveal a single connection type stop solenoid underneath.
 
im on about the egr wires i have already broken off the plastic for the solanoid found the single wire and connected it it now works th solanoid but what are the egr wires for do i need to connect them to something? ignore them?

where would egr unit be i have pulled engine out of a disco and put it in my 110 no ecu or electric boxes so will it run what does it do just send a signal to say how hard its reving for the rev counter in disco dash?
 
no it will work allright ,egr will be on exhaust manifold you cou just leaveit or if it leaks (it would have soot around openings on it)remove and put blank tin gasket between it and manifold,revs sent from alternator
