After selling my reliable defender 90,i purchased a seemingly perfect p38 .within one week the crank shaft gave up.the dealer fitted a bmw car engine that to my disapointment had a rather fast fip diesle leak.i took the car to a lovely injector pump garage panda pumps of farham,had the fip pump recon'd but when fitting back to the car the timing chain slipped....dam new chains sprockets ,guides tentioner.had to fix replace the rad,water pump thermostate and fan myself .but some thing was not right she would not respond to throttle idle was all over the place just could not work it out after returing for the third time to panda pumps we relised that the pump had the wrong top .luckely he had a spare .the engine managerment light was not on be cause some one de fused it! we had lost total faith in her and was down 2 grand .....but after all the griff,. money I must say she has been fantastic burns a little oil not too bad considering the reason i spent and carried on was after a oil pressure check and looking at the good condition of the camshaft i thought take a chance ,and im glad i did she has turned out to be a reliable babe appart from a noisy auto box i told thats just the way they are not a whining just well to me sort of rattaly when cold in the end i think i made a good decsition for once smile
