Dear All,

I am new to the 'Freelander Forum'! I recently bought a 98 1.8i Petrol Freelander with a timing problem which i have managed to resolve. However, when the engine gets warm there is a sudden loss of power and the engine eventually stalls. A few seconds later it starts with the turn of the key and is okay for another 100 yards or so and the loss of power creeps in again.

Any of you able to give a novice some guidance!

Sounds like a fuel issue, do you have a service/parts history for the hippo?

When was the fuel filter last changed?

Check the air filter too, lack of air to the k-series limits the rev range.

If you block off the air intake inside the engine bay and you'll only rev to around 3,000 rpm.

I dont suggest dizzy cap or plugs/leads as you would have lumpy idle and misfiring at stand still.
