When I drive slowly to the bottom of my drive there is no squealing but as soon as I hit the bottom of the road and boot it from 1st to 3rd there is a squealing sound that sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the engine. It doesn't happen all the time, just when I need to accelerate fast from stationary or moving very slowly. Has anyone had this happen to them before? If so what was the prognosis please?

Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help.

my squealing was a warped exhaust manifold but did it all the time above 2000 revs. might be worth looking for snapped studs on the manifold or signs a carbon coming from the gasket.

mine squealed then the alternator seized and snapped the belt, im yet to see the damage as i wasnt driving it and its 5km away, but tomorrow its on for a move and a fixing.

That's been tightened and it was still there.

If it's a D2, it should have an automatic tensioner, how did you tighten it?

You don't say which engine, so I'll assume TD5, that can be aux belt slipping through failure of the tensioner or oil on the belt, or a warped manifold letting exhaust gases out under pressure, or a slack hose on the pressure side of the turbo doing the same thing but this time with compressed air from the turbo.
