Hi - I have a 96 Disco that has just over 115k miles, has recently developed a squealing noise whilst engine turning over/driving (bad timing, as I am currently advertising 4sale) . Any ideas...??? - thought it was down to wet weather but continues......

I know everything about squealing noises - dont I Yella?

Try fanbelt first - if no improvement, try water pump.

the fan belt tensioner goes out of line with high mileage, just wear and tear.

replace the fan belt first, if the noise comes back, replace the tensioner

Put a little oil on the belts drive surface. Will shut it up until you sell it.

I get it sometimes from my 90, I just put a little oil from the dip stick onto the belt and it shuts up.
