Anyone else had this on a p38? I can't quite see what the cause is and the trim is in the way. I've sprayed WD40 up around the pedal area, but to no effect.

On a side note. I'm still having some pulsing ABS like issues with the brakes (feels a bit like the ABS kicking in and the pedal sort of groans and pulses back at you) All new ABS sensors and no codes, local p38 specialist baffled at the issue.

Just wondering, is there anything funky with the pedal assay that could also cause this, and also be the source of the squeaking sound?

I have one with a squeaky brake pedal, it's in the barn for an EAS fault so I will be looking at that too as the MOT is next week.

Looks like the panel under the column has to be dropped, 4 screws I think and then maybe the horizontal panel that may have a footwell light in it. Not got to it yet, busy chasing an EAS fault.

For the squeak, spray grease - you just need to hit the right spot... was years ago when i did mine - think it was where the ends of the return spring anchored to the pedal and bulkhead. You neednt strip the panels, but you do need to lie looking upwards... tho removing the abs panel with the footwell light will help for sure. As for the pulsing... if you have nano check that all the sensors are recording the same speed/ kick in at the same time up to the 7kph... if not then one may need replacing

Thanks, I'll give this a go.

I'll check, it has so far had 6 new ABS sensors though. And the local specialist has whatever the dealers used to use and says he can see no faults. My Nanocom doesn't like connecting to the brake ECU however.

Brake switch behind the pedal?

I ended up removing the panels under the steering column to kill the squeak. No amount of spraying from underneath had any effect.
This led to having to make further repairs to the plastic mounting points on the binnacle etc many of which were broken when I got the car. My previous repairs were OK until I started taking things apart.:(
